A skin peel is a safe, painless treatment that uses chemicals, most of them naturally sourced, in carefully prescribed concentrations to remove the surface layer of dead cells to reveal a healthier layer beneath. Different facial skin peels are available that can be tailored to your skin type, age and the purpose of the peel which aim to reduce fine lines, blemishes and dull lifeless skin tones.

What to expect from your treatment?

The Consultation. Our clinic has a policy to only proceed with a treatment if we truly feel it will be appropriate for our patient’s needs. Every booking will, therefore, include a consultation period for us to find out more about you and for you to discover more about the treatment and its expected results.

The Treatment. First, we will prepare the area for your treatment, protecting around your eyes and other areas potentially sensitive to the chemicals which we then gently brush onto your skin. You will feel a warm sensation and possibly some tingling as the chemicals start to work on your skin. At the end of your treatment all trace of the peel chemicals will be carefully cleansed away and your skin will be moisturised and protected by the application of a number of our skincare products.

Downtime and Downside? Skin peels do not hurt, and redness after the treatment is uncommon, however, the strength of the peel used will determine the amount of time you decide to take off normal activity after this treatment as peeling could continue for up to three to five days. For a more precise assessment of the downtime you should expect to take please feel free to ask our experts. We would recommend no lasering, invasive skin treatments or extensive sun exposure for two weeks both before or after your treatment.

How Long Does It Last? Treatments can be taken individually or as part of a course, results vary and so does the time it takes before further facial skin peel treatments will be needed to maintain the look and feel of your skin.
